Gasthaus on the lake restaurant and bar was opened in 2000. Housed in a log cabin the dining room has an atmosphere you’ll only find in Bavaria. Dining room is tastefully decorated with staffed animals, antique furniture and books. During warm months guests are seated outside on a sun lit terrace overlooking the lake. When it gets cold guests are welcomed inside. The Gasthaus’ legendary medieval dinners are a perfect way to make your dinner gathering even more memorable. Pewter plates, dripping wax candelabras, stuffed boar’s head, your waitress in costume and everyone taking on the role of a medieval diner are part of the fun but overshadowed by the impressive feast. My personal favorite dish at Gasthaus is Rotisserie Pork Hock. Usually it is served with potato dumplings and red cabbage, but I ask for mashed potatoes substitute. The portion is meant to feed a German Woodcutter after a day long shift, so I always take home half of the portion. I would also recommend Hunter Schnitzel with roasted potatoes, vegetables and champignon mushroom sauce. Dinner meals are served with freshly baked pretzel bun, warm delight! The bar offers a variety of draft beer, bottled beer, cocktails, wine and specialty coffee (B 52, Spanish, Polar Bear, Casanova, Gasthaus).
Everybody is welcome, please bring huge appetite!

This cafe doesn't belong to any chain, it is Kelowna born and raised. It has changed owners in 2016, but fairly local.
It has unique atmosphere, some evenings feature life music and most surprisingly fortune teller reading future on site! I personally never got there in the evenings when local musicians play music or never used services of the fortune teller, so don't have much to say. What I like about this place is a variety of coffee, tea lattes, sweets, breakfast items, soups. There is something for everyone and cafe is busy any day of the week. |
