Da Poke Bowl Hawaiian BBQ was was incepted about 2,5 years ago by a local couple -Mark and his better half, whose love for Hawaiian food fueled their desire to open a first Hawaiian restaurant in Vernon, BC.
Traditionally Poke /poʊˈkeɪ/ (Hawaiian for "to slice" or "cut crosswise into pieces"; sometimes stylized Poké to aid pronunciation) is diced raw fish served as either an appetizer or as a main course and is one of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine.
To customize the Hawaiian cuisine experience for local customers, owners thought of a buffet style. Customers have a choice of raw fish, cooked beef, chicken or pork cooked in Teriyaki style sauce. The base dish comes out the kitchen with rice and customer adds sprouted beans, beets, carrots, pineapples, crunchy wasabi peas, crunchy nori, sesame seeds to taste. Buffet comes with choice of drinks included in price CA$14.99 per person. You can refill your bowl as many times as you wish, no limit.
The restaurant relays a cheerful vibe thanks to warm wood interior and ample lighting.
